Blood Drive on 12 February 2011 A Success

Dear Blood Drive Volunteers and Donors,

Giving blood saves lives.  Last month, Woodlands Ward members planned, organized and staffed a very successful blood drive for the Singapore stake members.  There were eighty-eight volunteer  donors who showed up on that day, ready to be life-givers.  Of those eighty-eight, sixty-five units of blood were donated successfully by the participants.  Twenty three other donors were found to be unsuitable to donate their blood due to health or residency related issues.  We were delighted to have 11 non-members who participated with us on this day.

The Singapore Red Cross Society set up six different stations which each successful donor had to go through:  registration, declaration of particulars, doctor's screening, blood screening, donations, and rest & refreshment.  Many thanks to the Woodlands Ward members who helped to ensure that the logistics and operations went smoothly under the watchful care of 10 Red Cross staff and a doctor.

We would like to thank Sister Evelyn Lee, Brother Paul Chan and their committee members who put in much effort and time to lead this project.  And above all else, without your participation, some lives would not have been saved on time. Yes, thank you to each and all who participated!
