Blood Donation 2012

Members Donate Blood without Sweat

More than 70 members showed up on April 21 at the Stake Center to donate blood for the Singapore Blood Bank.

The blood donation drive was organized by the Woodlands Young Single Adults. The community service project has become an annual event since it started several years ago and it is part of the Stake’s efforts to contribute to the community. In addition to members, more than 10 non members and investigators also came. However, because of the stringent health and safety requirement by the Blood Bank, some people were unable to donate blood because either they did not carry their personal identification papers or did not meet some minimum health requirements. In the end, 42 pints of blood were collected.

Sister Evelyn Lim was one of the first few donors. She was really enthusiastic about donating blood this year because last year she was unable to do so due to low iron count. “This year, I prepared myself one week before by taking lots of rest and taking some iron supplements,” said Evelyn. “As a daughter of Heavenly Father, I am thankful for the blessings of the gospel including a wonderful family and good health. Donating blood is a small way of expressing my gratitude to my Heavenly Father and to my Savior Jesus Christ who shed His own blood to save me.”
