Baptism

Scriptures

Baptism is required of us if we are to enter the kingdom of God (John 3:5; 2 Nephi 9:23–24; D&C 84:74). When we are baptized, we covenant to take upon ourselves the name of Jesus Christ, to stand as a witness for God, and to keep His commandments (Mosiah 18:8–10; 2 Nephi 31:13; D&C 18:22–25; 20:37).

Questions

  • How is baptism a rebirth into a new life?
  • How is Christ’s baptism an example to us?
  • What are the specific baptismal covenants we make?

Objective

Baptism is the start of a new life as we are symbolically reborn and raised to a new life as disciples of Christ and bound to Him by covenant.
