A total of 78 Young Single Adults and 9 adult leaders attended the Young Single Adult Convention held from 29 May to 01 June 2015 at Lotus Desaru Resort in Malaysia.

THE EVENT

THE EVENT

Over the course of three days, great memories were created for all who attended Convention.

The fun elements of Convention were manifested in the form of outdoor games on the beautiful Desaru beach on Saturday afternoon, dance night on Saturday evening, and pitting brains and wits against each other with board games on Sunday night.

Spiritual nourishment is of major importance in Convention. The invited speakers gave workshops on various topics ranging from being better witnesses of God, living life to the fullest in our 20s, to managing our personal finances. During the testimony meeting held on Sunday, many young single adults bore their testimonies of how they have felt God’s guidance in their lives.

FROM FAITH TO WITNESS

FROM FAITH TO WITNESS

The theme for this year’s Young Single Adult Convention was from the scripture in Mosiah 18:9, which teaches us to “stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in, even until death.”

Ether 12:6 also reads, “faith is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith.”

The keywords here are FAITH and AFTER. Therefore, our faith can definitely expect and experience trials for which we would then become witnesses for God and His works.

From my perspective as a member of the organizing committee, this Convention was especially trying! All that could go wrong went wrong. We faced a lot of problems with logistics before and even during the Convention.

However, as Doctrine and Covenants section 122 puts it, “all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good.” Through it all, we learnt to depend on God and His servants for help to make Convention a success.

Like the intense fire that transforms iron into steel, as we remain faithful during the fiery trial of our faith, we are spiritually refined and strengthened to become better witnesses of God.

CONCLUSION

CONCLUSION

Conventions are made for the young adults of the church. Its success is not solely dependent on the Stake’s efforts, but also by its participants’ enthusiasm and willingness to participate. Our organizing committee is very grateful that despite the problems along the way, everyone who participated was patient and optimistic. This helped set the right tone for Convention.

And in my opinion, it is also a reflection that Convention was a success enabling everyone to become better witnesses of God.
