Choa Chu Kang Ward Temple Trip – No distractions, just do the Ordinances

No distractions

No distractions

On our Hongkong China Temple trip, 19-24 December 2016, we wanted to perform as many ordinances as possible, from Tuesday to Friday.  With no plan for sightseeing and entertainment, our members had time to enjoy the spirit of temple worship.  Unlike in past years, there was no rush to get out of the temple in the afternoon.

Our group consisted of 45 members and 13 youths. While most of the members and their families stayed at the Temple Patron House, the rest stayed at nearby hotels and apartments.

The Hong Kong temple workers and matrons welcomed us warmly. The temple Presidency was kind enough to let us to check into the Patron House a day before the re-opening of the Hong Kong temple after two months of renovation.

Ready to go to work

Everyone was excited and eager to begin doing the work the moment we stepped into the temple. Our ward leader had meticulously scheduled sessions for every youth and adult. As a result, we were able to perform 148 endowments, 312 baptisms and confirmations, 45 initiatories and 60 sealings over the four days.

Ordinances from Family files

Ordinances from Family files

Most of these ordinances were performed for family files brought by the members.  One highlight was the sealing of Brother Alex and Sister Doris Low and their son William. We all shared their happiness and joy in the Celestial room.  Their two daughters performed baptism and confirmation ordinances.

Fireside with Temple President

Fireside with Temple President

We had a fireside with the Temple President and his wife on Thursday evening at the Temple chapel. President and Sister Lee talked about how the Hong Kong China Temple came into being. He also shared his journey as a member of the church up to the time he was called as the President of the Temple in October 2016.  Sister Lee shared her conversion story and talked about her family and how she introduced the gospel to President Lee.

The temple workers were very accommodating and helpful throughout our stay in Hongkong.   Overall, it was a joyous and spiritual experience for all who entered the House of the Lord.
