Fun at the Fair with Choa Chu Kang and Clementi Wards

The combined Choa Chu Kang and Clement Ward Funfair event was held on Saturday, 11 June 2016 at Pasir Panjang Chapel. Despite the rain, over 70 visitors and members from the Clementi and Choa Chu Kang (CCK) Wards came together to have fun and food in a funfair organized for the second time since 2015 by both local wards. The purpose of this activity was to create an opportunity for visitors and ward friends to interact in an informal setting. After last year's success with over 80 participants, Bishop Ledesma and Bishop Sempio felt impressed to organize the funfair again this year.

Game booths were designed and managed by the youth and missionaries from both wards with simple objects such as ping pong balls, recyclable egg trays, plastic cups, Nerf guns, golf sets and more which attracted participants from the children to adults. To appeal to the younger children, an inflatable bouncing castle was set-up. Midway during the funfair, Brother John Lee, CCK Ward High Priest Group Leader, hosted the watermelon eating competition for the different age groups and gender. Among the men, Bishop Sempio consumed a quarter of a watermelon to the skin under 30 seconds to beat 7 other men to the first place.

The organizers felt that the funfair was a success. A member commented that “Although it rained during the early part of the funfair, many people still turned up and had fun.” Another participant remarked, “The games created by the youth were very creative and participants from children to adults could play and enjoyed them.” With the enthusiasm of many attendees and a good turnout of visitors, both wards will consider organizing the funfair again next year.
