By Amanda Loh from Woodlands Ward
By Amanda Loh from Woodlands WardI love my mission. It has taught me so many things that I couldn't have learned otherwise. Being on a mission is like having a life within a life, where many of life's lessons are learned in these 18 or 24 months; whereas outside a mission, it would've taken years to learn these same life lessons.
While on my mission, I truly learned for myself that God really is there and that He loves me. He has a plan for me. I don't know what His plan for me is exactly, but I just know that I need to trust Him. In Isaiah 55:8-9, it reads, 'For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.' When I read these verses, these scriptures gave me courage and strength to have faith in The Lord, to have faith in His plan for me, and to just trust Him to know that whatever He has in store for me in life will be for my best interests and that I will be happy. God truly works miracles and is a very loving Heavenly Father. He helped me up when I was down and showed me the many beautiful things that are worth living for in this life. President Uchtdorf once said, 'compared to God, man is nothing; yet we are everything to God.' That is true doctrine and I've come to truly feel that for myself. God loves us so much He gave us His Son to die for us, He loves us so much He is always listening to us, He loves us so much He prepared a plan for us to return to Him. I am so grateful for the atonement that enables us to return to our Father in Heaven and live with our families for eternity. I am so grateful that I have come to know that the Book of Mormon is true. I am so grateful to be a member of this church, the Lord's church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
