Dedication of the Compassvale Link Chapel

June 26, 2011 – The new edifice located in the Sengkang neighborhood on Compassvale Link in Singapore was dedicated.

Approximately 1,500 people attended the Open House on June 25. The Singapore Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Teo Chee Hean, Pasir Ris/Punggol Member of Parliament Gan Tiam Poh, and other prominent local and religious leaders were among the visitors.

COMPASSVALE LINK, Singapore –On June 26, 2011, Elder Anthony D. Perkins, Asia Area President, presided over the dedication of the Compassvale Link Chapel.  Under his direction, Elder Victor Chen of the Area Seventy, delivered the dedicatory prayer in the chapel which was filled with members and non-members from Bedok and Ang Mo Kio Wards. The saints from these two wards had waited with much anticipation since the Singapore Stake President, Stephen Lai, announced at the Stake Conference earlier this year that they would be moving to this new meetinghouse.

Elder Perkins addressed the congregation and cited his wonderful experience at the Open House. One in particular was when DPM Teo asked one of the young men at the Young Men booth: “Where did the words Deacons, Teachers, and Priest come from?” He was referring to the “Duty to God” display on the wall. The young man, Jace Ong, hesitated initially but then answered with an affirmative, “They were revelations from God!'

Nestled in the Sengkang housing estate on Compassvale Link, this beautiful building marks a significant progress of the Church in Singapore since the Singapore Stake was established in February 1995. With the Singapore Stake membership reaching 3,300 in 2011, the saints in Singapore now meet in three locations:  Stake Center in Bukit Timah, Pasir Panjang, and Compassvale Link.
