The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has always embraced and encouraged good music. ‘

The Old Testament includes many psalms, or praises to God. The book of Matthew records how the Twelve Apostles sang a hymn before the Lord retired to Gethsemane (Matthew 26:30). Music can inspire people to action or brings comfort and quiet reflection when needed. It stirs or moves the soul like few other things can – so it is important to be aware of the music we choose to listen to.

The Church has an extensive music library which is available to all, with thousands of songs available in a variety of formats. This article looks at a few of the online music library resources.

Music from the Liahona

Music from the Liahona is the only collection that has songs translated into other languages. Many favourites have been translated into languages such as Mandarin, Tagalog, Bahasa Indonesia and more. The songs are available for download as a PDF, or in MP3 format for the music.

Music for Youth

Another favourite music resource available is the great collection for the youth. These are modern, inspiring songs. Most are written by well-known artists and some are written and submitted from youth around the world. All of the songs can be downloaded in MP3 format to allow you to save them as you wish.

Children’s Songbook

The entire Children’s Songbook is available online. This is such a great way to learn and play these songs anywhere. Being able to play the songs online means that music is readily available for any Family Home Evening or lesson. The same is true of the Hymn book. The online MP3 Player is a powerful tool that allows you to play songs with or without vocals, in parts or in a different key or to a different tempo.
