Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Jamiyah Singapore, also known as Muslim Missionary Society Singapore, joined on May 27, 2019 to break the fast together at the Church’s meetinghouse on 253 Bukit Timah Road. It was a historic occasion for the two faiths, as it was their first time jointly held Iftar in a Christian meetinghouse.
“True faith is focused in and on the Lord Jesus Christ and always leads to action,” [iii] and faith is a principal of action that leads us to righteousness. Righteousness is the foundation of spiritual power through Christ; for “… the powers of heaven cannot be controlled nor handled only upon the principles of righteousness.” [iv]
This Chinese saying means, 'Heaven will help feed all the children that one has faith to bear.' That was a profound statement of faith in God coming from a woman who had no formal education and no knowledge of the gospel. Looking back, despite being raised in a poor family, I had an incredibly rich childhood.
The Lord promised: “He that seeketh me early shall find me, and shall not be forsaken.”5 Starting today will give our children the best chance to succeed in building an unshakable faith in our Savior, recognizing the still small voice, maintaining a firm testimony, and establishing a personal relationship with the Savior that they may never ...
Obedience has been an essential part of my personal spiritual growth since the early days of my conversion in 1971. Because of this important principle, my faith and testimony in Jesus Christ has grown gradually. I had neither a vision nor any pictures of what the desired results of the teachings of Christ would turn out to be.
We solemnly declare that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who lived among men, atoned for the sins of the world and, after dying, came back to life as a glorified and resurrected being. We further declare that He lives today, and that He will come to the earth again one day. While many of our beliefs are the same, some are different.
Gathering Israel. In the October 2020 General Conference, President Nelson taught: “When we speak of gathering Israel on both sides of the veil, we are referring, of course, to missionary, temple, and family history work.We are also referring to building faith and testimony in the hearts of those with whom we live, work, and serve.
Inter-faith partners shared our community service goals. Based on our shared interest in community service, our Church and Jamiyah Singapore successfully co-organised the first-in-Singapore Community Iftar held in a Christian church. This event drew national news coverage, giving high visibility to the Church as a promoter of inter-faith harmony.
Above all the blessings, the one that brings unequaled peace and comfort to our soul, is our personal testimony of the Gospel of Christ: including Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His Atonement, Repentance, Baptism, The Gift of the Holy Ghost, and Enduring to the End.
